Welcome to North India’s oldest city “Varanasi” on your first day. Check-in to a hotel and relax for a while. In the afternoon, go for a sightseeing in Sarnath where it is believed that Buddha had given his first sermon. Do visit the Dhamek Stupa, Chaukhandi Stupa, and Sarnath Museum post that. Return to Varanasi in the evening. Overnight stay in Varanasi.
Head out from Varanasi and drive to Bodh Gaya the next day, which will take about 5 to 6 hours to reach. Get checked in your hotel at your earliest convenience and relax for a while. Take a tour to the Mahabodhi Temple which is the place Buddha got enlightened under the Bodhi Tree. Spend some good quality time here doing meditation and temple visiting. Accommodation will be in a hotel in Bodh Gaya.
Next day, engage in exploring the area around Bodh Gaya. Pay homage at the Great Buddha Statue, several monasteries belonging to various countries and Sujata Garden which is the place where Sujata offered Kheer to Buddha. In the evening, again go to the Mahabodhi Temple for meditation. Overnight stay at Bodh Gaya.
Drive to Rajgir from Bodh Gaya which will be around 2 hours drive away. Buddha delivered many significant discourses here, so go to Griddhakuta Hill (Vulture’s Peak) to see this location’s significance. Visit Venuvana Vihara and Japanese Peace Pagoda excavation site. Proceed to Nalanda (about 1 hour drive away) to see the ruins of the University of Nalanda. From here we will travel to Patna and halt for an overnight stay.
Leave Patna and proceed further to the destination of the day, Vaishali which is around 4-5 hours from Rajgir. Visit the Ashokan Pillar, Buddist Stupa and an archaeological site of an old monastery. Discover the place with great historical importance for Buddha in the region of Vaishali. Continue the drive from Vaishali to Kushinagar where it takes almost 6 hours to reach. Check-in your booked hotel as soon as you get there. Visit the Mahaparinirvana Temple with a reclining Buddha statue and the Ramabhar Stupa which marks the cremation site of the Buddha. End the day in a contemplative mood as inspired by Buddha’s sayings. Overnight stay in Kushinagar.
Proceed to Lumbini on the next day. The journey would take roughly around 4 to 5 hours on the road. Carry out all Immigration and Emigration procedures and head to your hotel. Visit the temple which according to many is the birthplace of Buddha – Maya Devi Temple, and Sacred Garden where one can find Ashokan Pillar and several monasteries. Overnight stay in Lumbini.
After a refreshing sleep, you will wake up to a beautiful sunrise in Lumbini. We will relish the breakfast and then head towards Sravasti. It will take around 4 hours to reach Sravasti. After reaching, you will break for a delicious lunch. Then, you can roam around the place and visit the Sahet Market. Thereafter, you will proceed towards your hotel, have dinner and then halt for an overnight stay.
This is the day when the tour is all set to end. You will wake up to a great day and proceed for breakfast. Post breakfast, start driving back to Varanasi, the journey would take approximately 8 to 9 hours.
